OUR MISSION
Future Proof is an exciting project for the 2026 Holyrood elections with six young ‘citizen journalists’ backed by The Scottish Youth Film Foundation (SYFF) in partnership with leading UK disinformation charity, Full Fact.
THE VISION: A TRANSPARENT FUTURE
The communication revolution has already had a profound impact on all our lives and now, through powerful, little understood algorithms and artificial intelligence, the lines between truth and fiction have become blurred, bringing polarization and an accelerating distrust in our institutions and democracies, here in Scotland and around the world.
By exposing misinformation and debunking digital myths, we are building a newsroom that empowers every young Scot to participate in active democracy with facts, not fiction.

HOW WE WORK
Partners & Process
Supported by the Scotsman and STV alongside John Smith Centre at Glasgow University, the young reporters will be produce You Tube programmes and webinars in the weeks running up to May 6th elections, highlighting misleading claims made by politicians and others and providing key advice.
The Misinformation Fight
By partnering with fact-checkers and using advanced digital verification tools, we identify and expose misleading narratives targeting young people on social media.
Empowering Young People
We are inviting young people to articulate the key issues they see of real importance that transcend party political priorities and shine a spotlight on them during and following the elections. The project would bring fresh perspectives of Scotland’s next generation of voters and leaders, making sure their fact checked voices are heard and shared.
